Break-Even Calculator
Set a selling price, variable cost and fixed costs to see the minimum whole units needed to break even.
Your result
Use the same time period for fixed costs and sales. Excludes tax and capacity constraints.
How it works
Contribution per unit = selling price − variable cost. Break-even units = fixed costs ÷ contribution per unit, rounded up.
Common questions
What is a variable cost?
A cost that rises with each sale, such as materials, payment fees or delivery.
Why round up?
A partial unit usually cannot be sold, so the result rounds to the next whole sale.
